Safety and moderation
The app listing states conversations are moderated, but a critical review reports enforcement gaps and ineffective reporting. Reviewers also report exposure to explicit behavior and lack of reliable age checks.
- Assume other users may be adults of unknown age and avoid sharing personal details.
- Use the report button when you encounter abusive or explicit behavior; follow up by leaving the match and starting a new session.
- Keep your profile and account information minimal since the service works without signup.
- Disable camera or microphone and switch to text if you feel uncomfortable during a chat.
- Be cautious clicking links or following prompts to other sites; reviewers report redirecting behavior.

Verdict
Chat Alternative delivers fast, anonymous video chats with minimal setup. It is practical for users who value instant matching and want to try different countries or languages without creating an account.
Noise around moderation and age verification makes it a poor choice for those who need strong safety controls or verified communities. People seeking tightly moderated, age-restricted environments should consider other options.
